Seriously. The Munich
apartment is weird! We have adapted to
switching homes every week and have a good idea of what the place will be like
when we get there. Someone always ends up on a couch, the kitchens are always
small, and if we are lucky, there will be two toilets! This place meets the
basic requirements, except for the fact that I’m pretty sure someone actually
lives here. Usually these places aren’t decorated, and have only the basics as
far as kitchen supplies and appliances. We met the guy next door to get the
key, and walked in to a hoarder’s home. At least it’s organized hording! The
walls are covered in postcards, bags from foreign shops, maps, and origami.
Star lanterns, giant paper birds, and butterflies are hanging from the ceiling,
and the spiral staircase leading to the loft has a tree growing along the
railing. Scarves and hats are taped up or looped through each other along the walls, and magnets are on
every visible surface. That’s all the normal stuff.
Scarlet woke up to the
sight of a tiny man doll watching her sleep, and his little man doll friends
are all sitting in the stair trees watching everyone else. There is a gay bar
advertisement poster next to the toilet, a bunch of Buddha’s hanging out in the
shower, and about 50 hotel door signs on the bathroom door.
However the owner also
has a stocked pantry, so we got to eat tonight! Apart from all the questionable
trinkets lying about, this apartment really is charming and has a great view.
Everyone has a nice place to sleep, we have wifi, and we found some English
movies! We enjoyed a lazy night after our 6 hour train ride here, and Dad even
surprised us with some delicious croissants for desert!
