92. Can't go a Day Without Gelato

This part of Europe is all hills. I better have great legs by the end of the week. Today's hill led up to the castle.

Sometimes when we go to new places we find that we have come just in time for some big exciting thing to happen, and sometimes we are just 5 minutes too late. Today when we reached the top of the hill, we found out that the tour for the day started in ten minutes! This tour included a tour guide who was super fashionable and wore what I would consider stage makeup. Along the way we ran into certain actors who would tell us about a certain time in history. There was a Roman soldier, a French soldeir, a nun, a King, and my personal favorite, St. George, the city's patron saint. He told the story of how he had come up the castle hill to slay the dragon that had been haunting the town in order to save the maiden who was next in line to be the beasts dinner. In the end, he decided his adventurous knight's life had no room for a young virgin and left the city for his next adventure.

At the top of the castle we had a great view of 1/3 of the country

We almost got through another day without a museum, but our tickets came with an entry to the castle museum. So we had to go to the castle museum.

The rest of the day was full of downtown exploration. We went through some markets, learned about the important buildings downtown, got some gelato, and enjoyed the city. Most of the buildings were designed by Joze Plecnik. He was really into columns. Ljubljanica river runs through Ljubljana and I crossed every single bridge downtown.
