11. 20.56 = 11:56 right?

WRONG! So wrong that it doesn't make  sense why my brain came to that conclusion at all.

The day began like any other. After breakfast, we trekked the 2.5 miles into town to visit the sound museum. This place was so fun! There were interactive games that taught about how our ears work, and how different types of sound travel through the air.

Some of the games were just visual, but some were interactive and used our voices as Brody is demonstrating. In some rooms we could even create our own track by overlaping sounds found in nature.

There were three other floors, and on this one we had audio guides walk us through the history of composers that lived in Vienna. There were rooms dedicated to Joseph Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Strauss, and Mahler.

And they had Haydn's stuffed pet parrot...

Scarlet and I tried some interactive conducting. Arden was kicked off after about three bars.

The first floor had all the info about the philharmonic and we all listened to the CD's provided.

Next we went to the Art museum that featured pieces that had been collected by the Habsburgs. Brody spent the whole time pouting and I think Arden stood in one place the entire time.

I was going to take Rick Steve's tour of the place, but the first room was closed which threw off the entire walking tour. So I just read the synopsis of each picture like everyone else. I learned that John the Baptist is always wearing fur, and the Habsurgs favorite bible story was when Salome asking for John the Baptists head on a platter. There was a room dedicated to this scene.

Scarlet and I took a break to watch some people painting replicas of some of the more famous pieces.

When everyone had their fill of historical art, we headed home to eat the rest of the food we had bought throughout the week. It was 8:00 when I learned the horrible error of my ways. We had planned on arriving at the station 2 hours prior to the departure time of the night train. While I was doing the dishes, Dad called me into the living room where he was reviewing the tickets and pointed out that 20:56, in fact, is 8:56. We had less than an hour to clean the place, pack up, and take the metro to the train station where we would have to find the right platform and train cart. The metro ride was the longest of  my life, but we made it with 10 minutes to spare! And despite the close living quarters and the rush to get there, everyone was happy!
