12. A Lazy day in Venice

Sleeping on a train does not give you the full nights rest, lulled by the swaying motions of the train cart, that you might expect. We arrived in Venice around 8:30 in the morning and our host, Michelle, took us to our new home. It's right off a canal (well, most of Venice is), and there is a big balcony running across the back. It's exactly how I imagined Venice. We all crashed around 10 to make up for the sleep we lost, but managed to wake up to take a walk around and buy some lunch at the Billa.

We always learn a lot about where we are staying based on what they sell at the grocery stores. For example at this Billa, the only small container of Peanut butter sold is 6 euros. However there is a wide variety of Nutella sold in large jars for half the price. Obviously Vienna has never experienced the wonders of PB & J. Or maybe America doesn't appreciate N & J... We saw Cow hearts, every type of pasta ever imagined, and the soundtrack playing was 80's English songs. Thanks to "80's Sing It" Scarlet and I knew every word. At home, We found a TV channel playing Psych in English (YAY!) and spent the rest of the night lounging and planning the rest of the week.
