Apparently Saturday
Night is the party night in Budapest, and the “quiet after 10” rule is not
strictly enforced here. Judging by the noise, there may or may not have
been a party in our living room. Mom was confused as to why we didn't get an invite.
This morning we
attended 10 o’clock mass at St. Stephens Basilica. It was entirely in Latin,
but I recognized some words (amen, excelsis, etc.) and spent the rest of the time admiring the décor.
We would have stayed after and taken a few more pictures, but tourists weren’t
allowed to stick around and I think our shants (shorts/pants) gave us away.
Arden has been
enthusiastically been studying photography for school, so on the walk back home
she got a hold of my camera and took some shots.
We also visited the
House of Terror museum which was used as the party headquarters of the
Hungarian Nazi’s, the Hungarian Arrow Cross Party, during World War 2 and
housed communist terror organizations later. The museum was 3 stories and told
a very thorough history of communist Hungary.
