4. A Day in the Rain

We planned on walking to Castle hill and seeing some of the more touristy spots by castle hill. After tediously studying the map and planning our walk, mom took one step outside and decided it was too rainy to walk that much today, so we huddled back inside to form a new plan. Our first stop was the Grand Synagogue where we stalked the perimeter and took pictures from behind gates rather than paying to go in.

Next we headed to the fresh market where they sell many useful things like pig skin, pig heads, deserts that look like elephant ears covered in Nutella, and of course loads and loads of paprika. Mom and Dad got meat for dinner and the rest of us helped Scarlet shop for souvenirs with her Christmas money. We paid someone for the souvenirs. I hope it was the owner of the shop…

On our walk back home we rounded a corner and smelled something so heavenly I wasn’t sure if I had just imagined it or if it was real. I looked over to Arden and Scarlet and their faces said it all. Whatever this treat was, we had to have one. We got to a little stand with a very foreign name that sold doughnut type pastries baked in a long tube covered in cinnamon. Scarlet bought one and graciously shared with the rest of the family. And yes, they are as good as they smell.

  1. Next time I go on a trip I want Scarlet to come with me! The girl has got bags of candy, she's the one buying souvenirs and she shares her dessert-- what a rock star. And I support renting swimsuits to try out the pools!

  2. Yeah I guess she is a good asset. To be fair to everyone else though, Scarlet was the only kid with Forintz, the rest of us were broke completely. So you could say it was her sisterly duty to share the wealth!
